Here's what others say about our PD's, Programs, Products and Teacher Resources

Teacher Professional Development Workshops & Days

(In Person & Online)

Inspires my teaching practice and fills my bucket

"There are certain professionals who I like to keep in regular contact with because they inspire my teaching practice and fill my bucket.
Tania is one of those people, and I find I have had such amazing success implementing what I learn from her. I can barely contain my excitement and want to share it with everyone!"

Catherine Beckingham

Early Childhood Teacher

Can't wait to see where our team go from here

"I just wanted to say a big thank you for your PD Day. I felt the staff found a lot of inspiring moments in your presentation and will certainly be using clay in a whole different light with the children as well as loose parts found in nature. I can’t wait to see where our team go from here."

Libby Chislett

ELC Director, Mary Jones Early Learning Centre, Mentone Grammar School

A collector and connector of educators, sharing ideas and stories

Thank you, Tania. You are a collector and connector of so many wonderful educators, not just locally but around the world. This makes us all better educators as we share ideas and stories.
You connect with children and share your passion for nature with them. You are an amazing front-line educator as well!

Jennie Bons

Centre Director and Kindergarten Teacher

Consolidated and extended our understanding... and it's fun too!

"Your Natural Loose Parts Possibilities session consolidated and extended on a lot of what we already understand and do in practice. It will provide a great reflection tool that we can look back on and see if we are following up on the discussions that were had about how natural resources can extend all of the learning outcomes.

The Wild Kitchen workshop really inspired our educators to think more deeply about the way we engage in the outdoor spaces with children to intentionally extend their play... and the adults ready enjoyed playing together too!"

Georgie
Director and Early Childhood Teacher

Connect and share knowledge and nature pedagogy, adaptable across multiple ages.

"This was definitely one of the most important PD's that I have done in my life because we were very active and not just sitting and listening.
The day actually took me to my childhood and was thinking about children these days.
I have already shared it with my team members at our educational leaders meeting and they loved the resources and ideas. I have started doing lots of things with our kinder children and at this stage I see myself as a researcher."

Chanuja Perera
Early Childhood Teacher, Florence Collins Kindergarten

Head outdoors and the lesson will find us

"I used to think that I needed to create a lesson to head outdoors. Now I think to go outdoors and the lesson will find us! Thank you Tania!"

A chance to collaborate and support each other

"Once again another fabulous CAMPference where like minded educators have the chance to collaborate and support each other on the journey of Nature in Education and Outdoor Play."

Joanne Pegg

Principal, Bullarto Primary School

Connecting and inspiring for our team

"Thank you for a weekend of connecting with nature, inspiration, knowledge and fun. My team and I gained so much more than we could have imagined. Excellent Excellent Excellent!"

Christine Sheather

Educational Leader

Continuing to shape our practice in the most meaningful way

"We have been reflecting deeply on everything we learned at Campference, and it has taken time to put into words just how much our professional growth has been shaped by your guidance.

Your sessions took us right back to our own childhoods, days filled with dirt under our nails, muddy puddles, imagination and endless outdoor creativity. Those memories reminded us of the pure joy and freedom that nature offers children and they reignited our passion for bringing that magic into our practice.

The learning we gained from Campference has been transformative. We have now implemented so many of these ideas into our Bush Kinder program and lately the event calendar and the change has been remarkable.

Our children are more engaged, curious and confident in nature-based learning and our families are genuinely excited about attending each Bush Kinder session. This positive shift is a direct reflection of the inspiration and knowledge we took away from your sessions.

Thank you for sharing your expertise so generously and for the passion you bring to outdoor learning; it continues to shape our practice in the most meaningful way."

Debbie and Neetasha,
Director and Early Childhood Teacher, Appletree Hill Preschool

Welcoming and collaboration

"I thoroughly enjoyed all of my interactions with the facilitators, both during the sessions and in conversation. Having the opportunity to engage with each facilitator separate to the sessions was highly valuable and informative.
Thank you for providing such a welcoming and collaborative space. CAMPference has such a great culture and usually developing a culture takes a LOT more time than a few short years so well done!"

Zoe Haack
Centre Director and Early Childhood Consultant

Combining professional interests, personal passions, and meeting great people

"I used to think nature was a side obsession for me, that what I wanted to do was on the fringes and that my professional experiences were not likely to combine with personal interest.
Now I know it’s possible, and actually works better, if I can bring all parts of me to everything I do (nature, education, children, and learning). Meeting great people at CAMPference confirms this!"

Qin Qin

Early Childhood Consultant

Connect and share knowledge and nature pedagogy, adaptable across multiple ages

"CAMPference was a fabulous opportunity to connect with educators from across Australia and share knowledge and nature pedagogy. Workshops were all action packed fun and content could easily be adapted across multiple ages. Loved, loved, loved it and would definitely attend again!"

Michelle Allen

Teacher (Early Childhood, Primary & Secondary), Birrigai Outdoor School

Connections with likeminded people are priceless

"Campference confirmed that THIS is my JAM. It's given me confidence to put my learning in nature/forest school plan into action.

My heart is overflowing with positive regard for Tania and her support team, all the presenters and attendees. I felt seen and valued for my contributions. Everyone was welcoming, kind and so generous with sharing their practices and expertise. The connections and interactions with like-minded people is priceless."

Carolyn French

Primary School Teacher

Endless possibilities and learning opportunities

"What an incredible weekend with so many amazing people! I’m so thankful and great full that I had the opportunity to attend CAMPference with our team!

My mind is blown by the endless possibilities and learning opportunities for children in nature! I can’t wait to implement and help educators embed these new ideas into everyday practices at the services and begin incorporating more nature based play!

Thank you Tania for creating this amazing event to showcase learning from a different perspective!"

Courtney Donegan

Early Childhood Educator, Warrnambool City Council

Knowledge to share year after year

After attending my 7th Campference, I am still walking away from the weekend inspired, with newfound skills, and knowledge to share with colleagues.

Sarah Johnson

Amazing, fun, hands on learning

"The whole experience was amazing, fun, hands on learning which is perfect for me. Plus being in nature with such beauty surrounding us. Also the opportunity to meet new people, learn new ideas, share. I feel every part of CAMPference was amazing."

Julie Minter

Early Childhood Teacher

Endless possibilities and learning opportunities

"Campference was one of the most inspirational work PD I have ever done. So many interesting and motivating sessions/activities to do, like minded people and absolutely loved talking to them and hearing all their stories.

I have not been able to sleep through the night for quite a while, but after Campference I had three nights of uninterrupted sleep. Thank you Tania for being one of the best hosts and organisers!"

Anne Johns

Early Childhood Teacher

Reinvigorated

“I was reinvigorated and reminded just how important nature is for both children and adults.

I really enjoyed the team projects using loose parts at the beach; our conversations with presenters were invaluable and I have been inspired to do more mandalas (I have just returned from Hattah National Park where I made my own mandala using loose materials)."

Pamela Gibbs

Early Childhood Teacher

Gained confidence in embedding First Nations learning in my program and motivating my team

"I have worked within Bush, Beach Kindy for several years at a different place of employment and believe in it so much. I now work within a private setting and l am so motivated to push their boundaries even more. I will not give up! So inspired once again.
Also gained more confidence in how to implement First Nation awareness and learning within the program. I am not so anxious now."

Children as advocates for nature

"I am still buzzing from our last mentoring session and am looking forward to introducing the ideas we spoke about!

When collecting fallen leaves and flowers for a project a child went to pick one and another said, "That one isn't ready to be shared with us. Wait until it falls that's how we know!"

This showed the children are absorbing the content and listening when we say, we borrow from the country and only take what has fallen."

Amy Ellis

Early Childhood Teacher

Calmness in children's engagement

"The children have begun using nature to engage with new learning more, and are using one another to co-construct learning.

In our inquiry around seasons, we have been using observation as a research method. This has supported children to stop, listen and respond using their senses. I have observed a calmness to their engagement."

Courtney

Online Courses

I've found myself deeply immersed in the learning... it would be POWERFUL to enrol your whole team

"I absolutely loved Nurture in Nature’s ‘Strong Foundations for Social and Emotional Learning Through Nature-based Play’ Course.

It’s been such a rich and engaging learning experience! The depth of research-based content and the university-level coursework have been truly impressive.

The abundance of resources has been phenomenal, and I’ve found myself deeply immersed in the learning.

The course has been amazing to participate in as an individual educator, enriching my teaching practice whilst helping me with engaging strategies and resources to support children, families, and my fellow educators.

It would be POWERFUL to enrol your whole team and use it as the base for your staff meetings and PDs for the whole year.

By the end of the year you will have the whole team on board demonstrating and explaining practices, embedding skills that fulfil several QIP and RAP goals. The team will be able to see real growth and proudly celebrate their journey.

Through this journey, everyone will experience a deepened sense of Belonging, Being, and Becoming, aligned with nature and the understanding that our well-being is intrinsically tied to the health of the natural world.

With my deep connection to nature-based play and passion for learning, I’ve found this course to be an incredible way to activate ‘community’ as a verb—empowering teams with meaningful projects that align perspectives and foster collective growth.

Social and emotional learning skills are essential for success in school, and nature-based play provides invaluable opportunities for children to develop and practice these skills.

Helping us to inspire and support our children, families and team through nature-based play

"Our service has a philosophy and I have a pedagogy of nature play, but how do I inspire others to be passionate about this type of teaching and practice? How do I inspire children, families and community?

Nurture in Nature's SPROUT program has helped us engage with our families and community in meaningful ways, and inspired our team to implement more intentional and engaging nature-inspired teaching and learning for our children.

We have built on our professional knowledge, engaging with new strategies and tools, and have grown our understanding of the positive impact of nature on young children's lives.

Our children's capabilities have grown in identifying their relationship with nature and how significant nature is in their lives.

The SPROUT Program has guided us to better understand how nature impacts children's social, emotional learning, as well as helping them develop in many different areas, including language, literacy, numeracy, dramatic play, and connecting to Country and First Nations people and culture.

We have loved being involved with Nurture in Nature, and can't wait to explore the next steps in the program in the years to come."

Children's Sessions & Programs

(Online & In-Person)

We're gathering feedback from the many children's sessions that we run with Kindergartens, Schools, Early Childhood Centres and Programs, Youth Programs, Community Groups, Libraries and more. We'll pop them below when they're ready.

We're usually having too much fun with kids and forget to ask, but here's a couple in the meantime...

Changed our perception of what we could do outdoors

"After my daughters first Nurture in Nature program, I found that not only did she want to spend more time outdoors, but what she wanted to do outdoors also changed. No longer did she want the parks swings & slides, but wanted to hike & search for things in nature with binoculars or magnifying glasses, turning rocks over to see what she could find. Swimming in rivers rather than pools to see what lives there.

It totally changed her (& our) perception of what we could do outdoors.

A new language to invite children

Thanks so much for coming, Tania. You really helped to inspire our children! On Tuesday, two of our little people who do not engage in creative expression asked for clay work to make another creature. Thank you for helping to us to develop another language for our children to use.

Campference: Where Nature Meets Story

(Online Conference)

The best organised online event I've ever attended... easy to navigate, accessible and I learnt so much

"Campference was the best organised online conference I have ever attended. It was easy to navigate through daily content and the Playbook made it easy to record my thoughts as I went. I have learnt so much from fellow nature-lovers and educators. Thank you so much Tania for your enthusiasm and commitment!."

Connecting with passionate presenters and people from around the world

"All of the presenters were so passionate about their topic, the feeling of love and connection with people from around the world. Thank you too, Tania for your ability to ask such thoughtful questions and also sharing your experiences."

Stacie Dublin

Early Childhood Teacher

The most inspiring and welcoming conference I have ever completed

"I will be suggesting to all educators (Early years Educators, Primary teachers, support educators) that I know to attend the next one.
This Campference has been the most inspiring welcoming conference I have ever completed and I just can't wait to implement so many new ideas or adapt, extend on and trial others.

I can't wait to observe my team having a go and building up the confidence to do so and the children will also feel engaged and want to participate even more."

Corinna Clough

Early Childhood Teacher

Fizzing with energy and ideas for a whole years' worth of learning opportunities

"Tania gathered professionals from around the world to share their knowledge, experience, skills and inspiration. The virtual campfire sessions allowed us to talk directly to experts, watch them in action and try out new invitations for storytelling.
The energy level was high and the discussions thought provoking.
After a very flat couple of years I was struggling to feel inspired but the Campference has me fizzing with energy and ideas for a whole years worth of learning opportunities through storytelling.
I've been raving about it to my workmates and telling them to grab any opportunity to attend one themselves."

Janette Donn

Early Childhood Educator

Quality speakers blended with host's insightful reflections, questions and prompts

"The quality of speakers participating in this conference was amazing, and Tania was awesome to listen to each and every session. Her insights, questions, and prompts with each guest was perfect."

Che W

I have never attended another such event (online or in person) that I have loved so much.

"When I read the Campference description it sparked my interest but I wasn’t sure it would be directly relevant to me, as I am not working in the field, I don’t have children, and I’m not sure if I plan to work with children again.

But something about it spoke to me, so I decided to give it a go, thinking that if it turned out to be a place I didn’t belong, or not my cup of tea, then I could just leave.

I attended the first virtual campfire before I’d had a chance to look at any of the speaker sessions, and did have a moment of feeling like a ring-in and thinking “Oh, dear, do I belong here?”.

Then I dived into the content and found myself completely swept up and inspired.

What I discovered was an amazing range and depth of information (I’d expected maybe a 20-minute talk-to-the-camera mini-lecture video from each speaker) from a line-up exceptional speakers, engaged in lively and illuminating discussion by a skilled, passionate, warm and engaging organiser/presenter, and shared with a group of dedicated and supportive participants.

I found the content, and the inspiration I drew from it, to be not only highly applicable to early childhood, but also more broadly relevant to many demographics.

I felt inspired, affirmed in my values, and heartened that there are so many people out there with a deep belief in the importance of nature to children and all of us, and of fostering a love for nature that in turn inspires connection with and care for nature.

I loved the tone of whole event: it felt warm, inclusive, supportive, and populated by people who are living by something they believe in deeply.

There was a complete absence of ego throughout, and I saw an openness and willingness from all to share their time, ideas, information, resources and connections.

I can truly say that I have never attended another such event (online or in person) that I have loved so much.

Thank you for a wonderful experience and ongoing inspiration."

Karen Williams

Everyone should attend this professional learning opportunity

"I think everyone should attend this online Campference! It was very inspirational and my hand actually got sore from writing all my notes! I highly recommend it and will be telling everyone about it."

Dominique W

The most inspiring and welcoming conference I have ever completed

"I absolutely loved this so much.  Thank you Tania! You were great at interviewing and offering so many different speakers to talk about their passion.
I have told everyone about this and think that all educators should do it.

I feel like I am a new educator after this Campference! I honestly do.

I'm much more excited and enthusiastic about the day., the children are happier, the parents are loving it, and my new attitude and passion feels like it's rubbing off on others - so what's not to love!"

Sarah Pollard

Wide variety of inspiring speakers and resources

"I so appreciate the extraordinary amount of work and careful thought that went into the online Campference. The 'story' theme was thoroughly covered with a wide variety of speakers and resources that ensured there was content of value for everyone. It certainly inspired me to introduce more story telling into my interactions with children (and adults!). Big, big thank you to Tania and the team."

Tamsin Scott

Landscape Architect, Nature Play Consultant

Loved every minute

"I really loved the variety of speakers and topics. There was so much useful information, I made pages of notes whilst I watched. Thank you for making this event accessible all round the world and even for people who cant afford to pay. It was utterly brilliant and I loved every minute."

Crystal Greenfield

From the first talk I knew this was gong to be a great week. Engaging, active participation

"The first talk and presenters that told me this was going to be a great week was the conversation with Silke Rose West and Joseph Sarosy. Especially the way Silke spoke and brought up examples of her interactions with the children she works with I found super fascinating.

When I watched the interview with Priya Muthukumar  mesmerized by the way she kept everyone engaged and actively participating as she told different stories. We tend assume a passive participation most of the time when someone is talking. But Priya made sure that the audience was ever present throughout. It seemed so seamless the way she did it. I'm unlikely to forget it.

When Lynsey Robinson spoke about Sensory Trust I had an automatic desire to be a part of such an organization.

As someone in education I'm trying to figure out the role that best fits me. It could be teaching. I'm still so new to it, but it might not be, Campference opened a possibility to me that I never would have thought of on my own."

Highly recommended for helping build children's emotional language

"As a licensed child counselor, I highly recommend The Young Nature Explorers Guide to Emotions as an engaging resource for helping children build emotional language.
The nature-based metaphors make emotions feel clearer and less fuzzy, helping children talk about what’s happening inside.
Each card includes ways to identify and respond to feelings, blending body-based actions, calming strategies, imagination, and connection with others.
This is a wonderful resource for counselors, teachers, and parents supporting children’s emotional development."

Kim Lange, LCMHC

Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, EMOTIONanigans

Relatable metaphors and practical strategies for SEL

"The Young Nature Explorer's Guide to Emotions is a fantastic resource for educators and parents alike. The relatable metaphors and practical strategies will gently guide you and your children on a nature-inspired adventure to explore their emotions.

If you want too help your children navigate their feelings but don't know where to start, this guide will show you!"

Ali Murphy

Kindergarten Teacher

Valuable and practical wellbeing resource

"This is such a valuable and practical nature-based wellbeing resource that can be utilised by educators in both the early childhood and primary school sectors.
I really like the prompts on the emotion cards: ‘What can I do?’ and ‘How can I help others?’
It can also be used by parents, carers, and Occupational Therapists to support social and emotional learning."

Kelly Hutchings

Early Years Education Mentor and Wellbeing Leader

Clear, practical framework that we came back to again and again

"The Young Nature Explorers Guide to Emotions is a terrific and insightful framework for understanding preschoolers’ emotions. I found myself coming back to it again and again. It was incredibly helpful while navigating challenging behaviours in our room last year and gave both our Room Leader and myself clear, practical ways to support the children in the moment. Truly inspiring for educators.”".

Paul Dickson

Early Childhood Educator

Supports children to understand and articulate their emotions & empathise with others

"It’s great to see a range of diverse emotions covered in The Young Nature Explorers Guide to Emotions, rather than just the usual few basics. This supports children to differentiate between what they are feeling, and then to understand and articulate their emotions more accurately.
I particularly like the way the guide not only supports children to understand their own emotions, but to recognise them in others, which is particularly important, and is often overlooked. Providing intentional teaching of this supports those who struggle to empathise with their peers."

Karen

Early Childhood Coach

Gentle and compassionate

"Loving The Young Exploders Guide to Emotions. It's gentle and compassionate and I'm sure will help children understand their feelings better as well as encouraging them to talk about feelings. Not bad for adults either!
I notice quite a few of the cards suggest breathing as a way to settle and balance. This is great and, being trained in meditation techniques, simple breathing can help in many situations. What I call "breathing it through".

Sue Lang

Children's Book Author and Grandmother

Fantastic resource for educators and parents

"The Nature Storytelling Playbook is a fantastic resource for educators and parents alike. The characters in this book will hold your hand and gently guide you and your children outside and on your storytelling adventure - if you don't know where to start, this book will show you!"

Catherine Hurley

Kindergarten Teacher, Educational Leader & Mum

Engaging and confidence building

"Nature Ninja's Nature Ready Checklist is such a great resource! I love the calming tactile and visual engagement children gain through the beads. Plus, it's a great way for children to engage with the routine, and build comfort, independence and confidence in themselves for the amazing the adventures they're about to have. Can't believe no one thought of this resource sooner. Thanks Nature Ninja, you've saved the day again!"

Katie Jacobson

Early Childhood Teacher

Nurturing a love of learning through nature and engaging early literacy

"The Nature Storytelling Playbook is an amazing resource to inspire parents and carers to take up the challenge of immersing their children into the beauty of nature and storytelling.

Play Australia wants every child to play outside every day, and this resource will support children’s fascination with nature and nurture a love of learning through engaging ways to develop early literacy. A brilliant contribution to enhance the hectic life of parents and educators today.
