I find I have had such amazing success implementing what I learn from both of them and I can barely contain my excitement and want to share it with everyone!

Here's what we'll be doing together ...

In this hands-on PD day you'll experience the following 4 workshops, giving you real world know-how and practical skills that you can implement into your teaching right away and continue to build upon in your settings. Plus you'll connect and network with other likeminded educators who are passionate about helping children to grow and thrive socially and emotionally.

1

Workshop 1: Bringing Nature and SEL To Life Through Storytelling

In this fun and hands-on session, we'll switch on our imaginations as we gather ideas, inspiration and loose parts from the natural world to become ‘Story Makers'.

You will be introduced to a number of story-making ideas and strategies that you can use, develop and adapt across the curriculum.

Through nurturing creativity, communication skills and teamwork what you learn in this workshop will help your children - and you - grow your SEL and storytelling skills and confidence.

This workshop brings creative nature art together with oral, written and digital storytelling, making stories come alive before your eyes!

2

Workshop 2: Nurturing SEL with Yoga & Mindfulness

Thousands of years ago, yoga was inspired by the natural world & is fundamentally about mindful connection. Connection to our minds, our bodies and the environment around us.

This workshop will take you through 5 simple methods to embed yoga practices in ways which will meaningfully engage everyone within your setting, including the adults!

All you need is literally a few minutes each day to make massive changes in the way you approach the implementation of SEL with children. You will gain confidence & knowledge so that you can start embedding practices immediately!

This type of mindful yoga is accessible to everyone whether you are inflexible, of mature age, have physical restrictions or you just don’t know anything about yoga!

Workshop 3: Connecting with Earth Mindfulness

There are many elements of the natural world that promote a sense of wellbeing, but none more so than that of the tree.

This workshop will take you on a magical journey of earth based connection with trees. Guiding you through ancient wisdom of their tales and mystical whispers from their leaves, you will deepen your sense of mindfulness and your connection with nature.

Integrating SEL by connecting with trees will provide children with a deeper relationship with the natural world. The tree offers us a multitude of gifts that once explored, you will forever feel their power.

Be prepared to go into a delightful sensory exploration that will leave you inspired and empowered whilst at the same time feeling incredibly peaceful and calm.

Workshop 4: Turning Inspiration Into Action

Moving from a sense of playfulness towards embedded practices involves reflecting on what you have learnt, what purpose does it serve and how you will continue to implement nature & mindfulness based SEL experiences.

This workshop is all about taking the inspiration you have gained and turning it into meaningful and practical ways you can integrate it into your program.

We want you to walk away feeling empowered to continue practices that will instil a sense of wonder, gratitude, connection & peacefulness for children and yourself.

This workshop is not about tokenism, it’s about tapping into the wisdom of our group and changing the way we approach SEL to deliver aligned strategies that make a difference to wellbeing.
